Contract A

This design-build contract covers replacement of the deck on the elevated ramps carrying the access lanes from the South Shore, which make up sections 2, 3 and 4, or, more specifically, replacement of the deck from the east and west abutments to piers 32, E1 and W1. Contract A also includes major repairs to and reinforcement of the steel components on those elevated ramps and other sections of the bridge.

Subsequent to an invitation extended to a consortium of Mohawk contractors called the Mohawk Bridge Consortium (MBC), a proposal was submitted and the contract was awarded on April 11, 2008.
