The Champlain Bridge Ice Control Structure

In 2001, the Corporation awarded a contract worth $311,896 to replace the lighting system on the Champlain Bridge ice control structure. The lighting system was part of the original construction and had not been operational for many years. It had become necessary to upgrade the system as the ice control structure had been put into operation as a bike path in the summer and is used by contractors performing repair work on the Champlain Bridge nearby.

The work completed in 2001 included the replacement of mercury lamps with high-pressure sodium lamps, the replacement of the electrical wiring and the addition of a new electrical service inlet.
