Welcome

Welcome to JCCBI’s web site. Our civil engineering structures carry some 130 million transits per year and are among the busiest in Canada. Our infrastructure is vital to the economy of the Greater Montreal Area (GMA) and to the transportation of goods to and from the Lacolle border crossing.

In 2008, JCCBI celebrated its 30th anniversary and over the past three decades JCCBI has undertaken some of the most ambitious bridge engineering and construction work in Canada; everything from sandblast cleaning and painting of the entire structural steel of the Jacques Cartier Bridge and the Champlain Bridge, to the deck replacement of these two cantilever bridges employing prefabricated deck panels installed at night.

In 2008, JCCBI awarded the first of two major contracts to a group of Mohawk contractors from the community of Kahnawaké to reinforce the substructure of the Honoré Mercier Bridge and to replace the roadway deck at the approach ramps with prefabricated concrete panels. Work is presently underway and a second contract for the second phase was publicly tendered in 2009 and an award is planned for 2010. Together, these two contracts represent the most significant bridge rehabilitation work ever to be undertaken on a Canadian bridge.

Enjoy your visit!
